Dermal Fillers in Beverly Hills

Dermal fillers restore volume where your face has lost it, such as the cheeks, lips, temples, and under-eye hollows. We use Juvederm, a hyaluronic acid filler that shows results right away and can be dissolved if needed. Every treatment plan is physician-led, under the direction of Dr. Justin Donlan, a board-certified internal medicine physician.

Are Dermal Fillers Right for You?

Good Fit

  • You have lost volume in your cheeks, temples, or lips.
  • You have under-eye hollows that cast a shadow.
  • You want a visible change right away, with the option to reverse it.
  • You want to look rested, not changed.

Not a Good Fit

  • Your main concern is lines that form when you move. Botox is usually the better tool.
  • Your skin is loose rather than hollow. Filler adds volume; it does not tighten skin.
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have an active infection or cold sore in the area.
  • You have an event in the next two weeks, or want a permanent result.

How It Works

Juvederm is made of hyaluronic acid, a sugar your skin already contains. Injected under the skin, it holds water and restores volume where you have lost it.

Different Juvederm products are made for different jobs, from soft lips to firmer cheek support. Your body slowly breaks the filler down over months.

If you do not like the result, an enzyme called hyaluronidase dissolves it, usually within a day or two.

Juvederm products are FDA-approved for specific areas, such as the cheeks, lips, and lines around the mouth. Some areas we treat are off-label, and we will tell you when that is the case.

What to Expect

  1. ConsultationWe look at your face as a whole, explain where volume loss is coming from, and tell you honestly whether filler is the right tool.
  2. Treatment dayNumbing cream first. Juvederm also contains a numbing agent. Most people feel pressure and brief pinches. 30 to 45 minutes.
  3. First 3 daysExpect some swelling and possible bruising. Skip hard workouts and alcohol for a day, and avoid pressing on the area.
  4. Week 2Swelling has settled and you see the true result. We check in and can make small adjustments.
  5. Months 6 to 18Filler slowly breaks down. Most patients top up once or twice a year, depending on the area.

How Dr. Donlan Approaches Dermal Fillers

  • We treat the cause of the shadow or hollow, not a single line. Small amounts in the right place look more natural.
  • We would rather undertreat and add at two weeks than overfill.
  • If Sculptra or a skin treatment would serve you better, we will say so.
  • We know the facial anatomy behind safe placement and keep the dissolving enzyme on hand.

Common Questions

How much do dermal fillers cost?

Pricing depends on the product and how many syringes your plan needs. We give you a specific quote at your consultation, before anything is injected.

Does it hurt?

We numb the skin first, and Juvederm contains a numbing agent. Most patients feel pressure and brief pinches.

How long does filler last?

Typically 6 to 18 months, depending on the product, the area, and your metabolism. Lips tend to fade sooner than cheeks.

Can filler be reversed?

Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, usually within a day or two.

What is the difference between filler and Sculptra?

Filler adds volume right away. Sculptra prompts your skin to build its own collagen, so results appear gradually and last longer.

Who performs the treatment?

Our treatments are physician-led. Dr. Justin Donlan, board-certified in internal medicine, directs every treatment plan, and you will always know who is treating you and their role.

What are the side effects?

Swelling, bruising, and tenderness are common and usually settle within a week. Less commonly, small lumps can form. Rarely, filler can block a blood vessel, which needs prompt treatment; this is why anatomy and technique matter.
