What we treat

Hair thinning

A widening part, a hairline that has moved, a ponytail that feels thinner, or more hair in the drain than there used to be. Early thinning responds much better than advanced loss, so this is a concern worth raising sooner than feels necessary.

Why it happens

Most thinning in both men and women is androgenetic: follicles shrink over successive cycles under the influence of hormones and genetics until the hair they produce is too fine to see. Stress, thyroid, iron and rapid weight change can cause a separate, often reversible shedding. Because Dr. Donlan is an internal medicine physician, the first step is working out which one you have, sometimes with bloodwork.

What we recommend

PRP hair restoration

Your own platelet-rich plasma injected into the scalp to support follicles that are shrinking but not gone. The evidence here is good. Three sessions a month apart, then maintenance every four to six months. Expect thicker existing hair before any new hair.

Exosomes with PRP

Added to a PRP session to increase the growth-factor signal. Early data, promising, and we will tell you it is an upgrade rather than a necessity.

Medical treatment alongside

Topical minoxidil, oral options and lab work for the underlying causes. Dr. Donlan can prescribe and monitor these through his medical practice, which is a real advantage over a device-only approach.

What we would tell you honestly

PRP cannot revive a follicle that has fully closed, so a shiny bald area will not regrow. It works on thinning, not baldness. Results take three to six months to see and stop if you stop maintenance. If a transplant is the honest answer, we will say so and refer you.

Want to know whether your hair loss is the kind that responds?

Book a consultation. Dr. Donlan will examine your skin, listen to what is bothering you, and recommend a plan. Sometimes that plan is one treatment. Sometimes it is no treatment yet.

Results vary from person to person. A consultation is where we figure out what makes sense for you.
