What we treat

Rosacea and redness

Persistent flushing across the cheeks and nose, small visible vessels, bumps that look like acne but are not, and the redness that makeup never fully covers. Rosacea is a medical condition, not a cosmetic one, and that changes how we approach it.

Why it happens

Rosacea involves blood vessels that dilate too easily and an inflammatory response that keeps them that way. Triggers are personal: sun, heat, alcohol, spicy food, stress, certain skincare. It is chronic, which means the goal is control rather than cure. As an internal medicine physician, Dr. Donlan treats the inflammation and the vessels together.

What we recommend

IPL photofacial for the vessels and background redness

Light energy collapses the dilated vessels that give rosacea its color. Usually three to five sessions a month apart, then maintenance once or twice a year. The most reliable treatment we have for the redness itself.

Medical management, first or alongside

Topical and sometimes oral medication controls the inflammation that drives flares. Dr. Donlan can prescribe these as part of your plan, which most med spas cannot. This is often where we start.

Gentle skin treatments only

Rosacea skin reacts badly to aggressive resurfacing. If texture is also a concern, light microneedling and barrier-repair skincare are the ceiling. We do not do peels or CO2 on active rosacea.

What we would tell you honestly

IPL treats the vessels you can see; it does not stop new ones forming, and you will need maintenance. Knowing and avoiding your triggers does more than any device. If anyone offers you a strong peel or ablative laser for rosacea, decline.

Want a plan that treats the cause and the color?

Book a consultation. Dr. Donlan will examine your skin, listen to what is bothering you, and recommend a plan. Sometimes that plan is one treatment. Sometimes it is no treatment yet.
